Press Release Summary: Housing the best and the most modern ski centre of all Bulgarian ski resorts, Bansko is Bulgaria's no doubt number 1 ski resort.
Press Release Body: Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (15 Dec - 15 May) of all Bulgarian ski resorts. During the last few years the area has been highly developed as a result of a massive investment process, expressed by building of many new hotels and resort facilities, restaurants, clubs for entertainment etc. This is a nice and cosy small town situated at the foot of the one of the most beautiful mountains - Pirin. The town delights with its 200 years old stone houses and narrow cobbled streets. Here is the place where you can go back to the past, feel the pulse of local living and at the same time enjoy the advantages of modern life. The hotels are superb quality and even in a 3-star hotel you will have all the comfort you need. In Bansko you can find plenty of local restaurants, named "mehana" and nice bars, where you can have exciting evenings every day. Local kitchen is nice and tasty, one meal is approximately 6- 7 Euro and the beer is 1-1,50 euro. The skiing in Bansko is just wonderful. Although the predominantly Alpine character of Pirin Mountains there are runs and trucks for all grades of skiers - from beginners to real experts. The two major ski regions - the lower Chalin Valog (1100 - 1600 meters) and the higher one called Shiligarnika (1700 - 2500 meters) are situated above the town, on the northern slopes of mountains. This gives a snow guarantee from December up till the second half of April. Bus transportation as well as lifts to the skiing areas is provided by almost every hotel. Slalom and giant slalom runs are available in the Shiligarnika region. A crosscountry ski run is available as well. In short Bansko is great for a level of skiing. Slopes are wide and skiing is convenient. The marked ski runs are 65km which makes Bansko the resort with the longest ski runs in Bulgaria. Altitude of the ski runs is from 1100 meters up till 2 560 meters where the highest ski slopes are located. You can go quickly there with a gondola lift (c.a. 20 min) There are also 7 drag lifts and numerous baby drag lifts. The longest ski run is 3, 5 km. Full information on ski and snowboard packages could be viewed at http://www.ski-bg.com Bansko is a lively resort. It has enough for skiing to keep you for a week at least. And to enjoy the atmosphere of the old town. The old town of Bansko is a good 15 min walk where you will be able to breathe in the local atmosphere. There are lots of places to eat and drink. And lots of lovely bars around the hotels. Bansko is a town as well as a resort with the majority of the hotels being at the gondola end of the town. (hotel Bariakov, hotel George, hotel Lion, Dream apartments (map of Bansko and hotel information is available at http://www.ski-bg.com). For those located over 300 meters from the Gondola (hotel Elinor) there is a convenient shuttle bus from/to the lift. Bansko is a resort with variety of accommodations. Here you can choose between 5 star hotels (Kempinski Grand Arena) and basic accommodation with shared facilities. But we vote for the small 3 star family hotels (hotel Bariakov, hotel Elinor, hotel George) where you will receive a lot of care and personal attention. The access to Bansko during winter time is easy - both from Sofia and Plovdiv airport (Where most of the UK charters land in winter time). Purchasing a transfer (http://www.transferbulgaria.com) or simply renting a car (http://www.bulgariacarrent.com) would be the best option as the public transport is not really reliable at that time of the year.
